Happy New Year !

“A Field of Daffys”
Heatherwood Crabapple Grove

I thought I would start the new year with a thought of what Heatherwood will look like in the spring. The winter snow has been beautiful, but I am getting a little tired of plowing the driveway and shoveling snow. During these winter days, I enjoy the time to sit back and plan for the next projects we will undertake in the garden. I close my eyes, dream, smile, and think of the coming new year.

I wish all a Happy New Year filled with happy times, new experiences, and wonderful adventures.

Today is the sunrise for a new year! It is a time to look forward to the new challenges and opportunities the new year will bring. There are wonderful times ahead to spend with family and friends. There are new adventures around the corner with new things to learn. There are times for work and for enjoying the results. There are times for quiet contemplation on what is most important in life. It will be our challenge to act on the most important things and make the best of each and every day.

Today will be a great day. Happy New Year!

May the New Year Be Bright!

“Cherry Tree Silhouette”
Heatherwood, Winter

I see the light and hope of a New Year rising above the shadows of the past difficult year. It may be a little blurry around the edges, but hope clearly shines through.

We have many difficult challenges to face: health, political, economic, cultural, social, and many that we cannot predict. But with every challenge, there is hope and opportunity. It is the responsibility of each of us to make the most of every moment and make the world we live in a better place.

Many things are moving in a positive direction. Vaccines are becoming available to cure the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic. Political change is on the horizon; hopefully it will bring our nation together instead of pulling us apart. Cultural and social awareness were brought to the forefront this past year. Positive change will be on all our minds. Economic issues will impact all of us differently, but financial resources are available to provide more, new, and different means to pull us forward.

Life has changed. This year will be a transition to bring us back to a new equilibrium. Things may first continue to get worse before they stabilize and get better. Patience, faith, hard work, and persistence will be required by all of us to move forward. Light and hope are ahead. It is up to all of us to pull together and proactively make it happen.

May the New Year be bright!

Can You Believe ?

Heather Heights Garden – 1 January 2020

Can you believe that it was 56 degrees in our Eastern Washington garden on 1 January 2020. It was over 20 degrees warmer than the average New Years Day temperature. I took the opportunity to spend several hours working (playing) in the garden both with my camera and garden tools. Such nice weather makes me excited about starting new spring projects early. But I must be patient and wait for the winter season to run its course. However, I can be contemplative and creative using my camera to record the progression of the season through the garden. Spring will come soon enough.

Belated Happy New Year

“Here Comes the Sun”

I have finally been able to get my website up and going again with all the malware removed. It has been quite an effort but it all seems to be working well again. So here is my first post of the New Year/ New Decade.

We rose early on the first of January to watch the sun come up. We were blessed with a beautiful bright sunrise filtered by the fog in the valley below our house. The sun was a bright spot on the horizon. Its rays gradually spread out through the foggy sky above and gently over the our yard below. It was a wonderful way to wake up, enjoy a nice cup of coffee, and discuss the potential of the year and decade ahead of us.

Here comes the sun
Lighting the world around us,
Harbinger of the bright decade ahead
